Privacy Policy

Overview

CAD Helper is a desktop overlay that helps you get AI assistance while working in CAD software. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is processed.

Screenshot processing

When you send a prompt, CAD Helper captures a screenshot of your active screen and sends it — along with your message — to the Anthropic API for processing. Screenshots are sent directly to Anthropic and are not stored on our servers. If you use your own API key (BYOK mode), screenshots are sent from your machine to Anthropic under your own API agreement. If you use managed access, screenshots are routed through our Vercel serverless endpoint to Anthropic. In both cases, screenshots are used only to generate a response and are not retained after the request completes.

Account and authentication

If you create an account for managed access, we store your email address and a hashed authentication token in Supabase. This is used solely to authenticate your sessions and manage your subscription.

Prompt usage tracking

For managed-access users, we track the number of prompts sent per calendar month. This count is used to enforce usage limits and is stored alongside your user record. We do not store the content of your prompts or the AI responses.

App-open logging

We log when the app is opened (at most once per 24-hour period per user). This helps us understand usage patterns and retention. The log contains only your user ID and a timestamp — no information about what you are working on.

UTM parameters

When you visit our landing page from a link that includes UTM tracking parameters (e.g. from a social media post or newsletter), we capture those parameters and associate them with your account if you sign up. This helps us understand which channels bring users to CAD Helper. UTM data includes source, medium, campaign, and content tags — it does not include any personal information beyond what is in the URL.

Analytics

Our landing page uses Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymous page-view data (page URL, referrer, browser, country). No cookies are set and no personal data is collected by Vercel Analytics.

Payment

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled.

Data stored locally

CAD Helper stores your preferences, API key (if using BYOK mode), and conversation history locally on your machine using Electron's storage. This data never leaves your device unless you send a prompt.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Anthropic — AI model provider (processes your prompts and screenshots)
• Supabase — authentication and usage data storage
• Stripe — payment processing
• Vercel — website hosting and serverless API endpoints
